Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC) has awarded the 2023-2024 Clerk of the Year Award to Jefferson County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Jason Welty.
Suwannee County Clerk and outgoing FCCC President Barry Baker announced the award during the association’s annual summer conference.
“This year, Clerk Welty demonstrated exceptional resilience and grit after being appointed Jefferson County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller in November,” Baker said. “Despite taking on the position during a difficult time, he rose to the occasion and overcame each challenge that came his way. I am very proud to honor my friend and colleague Jason Welty with the 2023-2024 Clerk of the Year award for these accomplishments and representing our association with such excellence.”
Gov. Ron DeSantis on September 20, 2023, suspended the former clerk of the courts for Jefferson County when he was charged with grand theft.
The Clerk of the Year Award is presented to an FCCC member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and a commitment to improving the ability of clerks and comptrollers to serve Floridians through professional education, legislative action, and public awareness of the office.
