Want to serve on a Florida Bar Committee? Preference forms will be available December 1

The annual committee preference form for Florida Bar members seeking appointment for the upcoming 2024-25 Bar year will be available on December 1 in your MyFloridaBar Member Portal at floridabar.org and are due no later than January 15, 2024.

President-Elect Roland Sanchez-Medina, Jr., will make over 1,000 appointments to more than 70 committees. Each Florida Bar committee’s function and current membership may be found on the Bar’s website.

“The Florida Bar’s greatest assets are our members,” Sanchez-Medina said. “Be sure to submit a preference form to share your valuable time and expertise on a standing committee. The Bar’s standing committees support the Bar’s service to the public, our members, and the legal profession. Thank you in advance.”

Some of the many factors Sanchez-Medina will consider, include:

• Diversity, including, but not limited to, gender, ethnicity, geography, practice area.

• Prior service to the Bar and voluntary bar organizations; and

• Previous committee participation and contributions.

If you are currently serving on a committee and wish to resign, let your staff liaison know soon so others may have an opportunity to serve. You can check your MyFloridaBar Member Portal page or The Florida Bar’s Standing Committee page on the website for your term date. If you are eligible to serve another term, you need to submit a committee preference form to be considered for reappointment.

Remember if you are seeking to serve for the first time or seeking reappointment you must submit an online form by January 15, 2024.
