Former Department of Justice attorney Eli Rosenbaum and Palm Beach Circuit Judge Charles E. Burton were both honored at this year’s Project Nuremberg Lawyers Luncheon held May 3 in Boca Raton.
The event, chaired by Board of Governors member Robin Bresky, is an annual program of Temple Beth El that reminds the community about how the rule of law brought order to the world after World War II and the Holocaust.
Rosenbaum, the keynote speaker, received the Jay and Marilyn Weinberg Rule of Law Award, named for the philanthropic couple who sponsors the event each year. For 38 years, Rosenbaum investigated and prosecuted numerous human rights violators across the globe.
Judge Burton received the Civility Award. A circuit judge since 2005, he has always scored among the highest in the Palm Beach County Bar’s judicial surveys. Within six months of being appointed to the county bench in 2000, he served as chair of the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board during the presidential election that year.
