Floridian Olympians and Paralympians to be Honored during half-time at the Dolphins-Jets Game 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Sun Life Stadium
Game will also feature special pregame festivities as part of Hispanic Heritage Month
 

MIAMI – More than 20 Floridian Olympians and Paralympians that took part in the 2012 London Games will participate in a special ceremony during halftime of the Miami Dolphins-New York Jets game, sponsored by Wells Fargo, 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 23 at Sun Life Stadium.   

Olympians and Paralympians with Florida ties scheduled to attend Sunday’s festivities include Eric Alejandro (Track and Field), T’erea Brown (Track and Field), Paul Callahan (Sailing), Will Claye (Track and Field), Scott Danberg (Track and Field), Conor Dwyer (Swimming), Tyson Gay (Track and Field), Lacy Janson (Pole Vault), Tina Konyot (Equestrian), Carlos Leon (Track and Field), Danell Leyva (Gymnast), Ryan Lochte (Swimming),  Tony McQuay (Track and Field), Donte Mickens (Goalball),Robin Prendes (Rowing), Christian Taylor (Track and Field), Anna Tunnecliffe (Sailing), Dee Dee Trotter (Track and Field), Peter Vanderkaay (Swimming), Kellie Wells (Track and Field), Lauryn Williams (Track and Field), Brittany Viola (Diving) and Justin Zook (swimming). 

Additionally, the organization announced a host of special pregame festivities in conjunction with the NFL’s Hispanic Heritage Month events. The Dolphins and the NFL will honor Gloria and Emilio Estefan during the pregame ceremonies for their significant contributions to the local Hispanic community. As part of their recognition, a $3,000 donation will be made on their behalf to La Liga Contra el Cancer. Additionally, up and coming Miami born and raised singer, Sophi, will sing the National Anthem.

Boca Juniors to face Honduran National Team on Wednesday, August 15 at Sun Life Stadium 

Miami, FL (July 23, 2012) – The Honduran National Team, who will take part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, will travel to Sun Life Stadium to face Boca Juniors, 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15 at Sun Life Stadium. Honduras has replaced America de Cali, who was originally scheduled to take on Boca Juniors, Thursday, August 16. Fans that purchased tickets to the previously scheduled contest can use those tickets for the Boca Juniors – Honduras
match up. 

The Honduras National Team has been on the rise on the World Futbol stage for the last decade, representing the CONCACAF region in the last two Summer Olympics. In 2010, for only the second time in history, Honduras qualified for World Cup. They will bring their full National A team to Sun Life Stadium, featuring more than seven European based players.

2012 Fins Weekend Raises more than $600,000 for Miami Dolphins Foundation

The Miami Dolphins Foundation hosted its largest annual event featuring current players, alumni and cheerleaders, FinsWeekend, on May 17-19, 2012 throughout South Florida. The three-day extravaganza featured an exciting weekend of golf, fishing and celebrities.  In all, FinsWeekend raised more than $600,000 for the Miami Dolphins Foundation, whose mission is devoted to providing and supporting signature education, health, youth athletic programs and volunteer activities that inspire and engage communities throughout Florida.

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins will host several exciting and unique fan-friendly events for Finatics centered on the draft from Thursday, April 26-28, 2012. 

The organization will host three 2012 FINS ON THE CLOCK DRAFT PARTIES on Thursday, April 26, at 7:00 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium, Duffy’s in North Palm Beach and Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill in Naples.  Admission and parking are FREE.  Finatics attending any of the three 2012 FINS ON THE CLOCK DRAFT PARTIES around South Florida will have the opportunity to watch the live primetime broadcast of the NFL Draft, obtain alumni and cheerleader autographs, and sign up for season tickets.   

The first-ever FIN FEST will be held Saturday, April 28 at Sun Life Stadium and is a fun event designed for the entire family. Season ticket holders can enter the stadium at noon, while doors will open at 1:00 p.m. for the general public. Admission and parking are free.

JOE PHILBIN NAMED MIAMI DOLPHINS HEAD COACH 

MIAMI - Joe Philbin has been named the tenth head coach in Miami Dolphins team history, it was announced today by Chairman of the Board/Managing General Partner Stephen Ross and General Manager Jeff Ireland. Philbin will be introduced to the media at the Miami Dolphins Training Facility during an afternoon press conference on Saturday, January 21, 2012. 

“We are thrilled to have Joe Philbin join the Miami Dolphins as our head coach,” stated Ross. “Joe has all the attributes that we were looking for when we started this process. Jeff Ireland and I felt Joe was the right choice to bring the Dolphins back to the success we enjoyed in the past. I know I join our fans in welcoming him as the newest member of the Dolphin family.”

Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Star Football Game Presented by Under Armour to take place at
7:00 p.m., Friday, January 13 at Sun Life Stadium
 

MIAMI, FL The second annual Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Star Football Game presented by Under Armour and hosted by the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) and the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) will be held at Sun Life Stadium located at 347 Don Shula dr., Miami Gardens Fl 33056 on Friday, January 13th at 7:00pm.  The game will feature stand-out student athletes from Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Proceeds from the game will be distributed between both counties to help support the funding of their football athletic programs.  Admission to the game will be $12. Advanced ticket sales are available through your local high school in Dade and Broward County. The game is endorsed by the Broward and Dade County School Boards, as well as the Miami Dolphins.

Yeremiah Bell honored with 2011

PFWA Good Guy Award 

Miami - The South Florida chapter of the Pro Football Writers Association is proud to honor Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell with the 2011 Good Guy Award, given each year to the player who is most helpful with the media. Bell has been cooperative, professional and accountable with the media throughout his nine-year career with the Dolphins, and was especially helpful during this difficult season. Bell was an easy choice to receive this year's award in a vote by local PFWA members, and we thank him for his cooperation.

 MATT MOORE NAMED AFC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 MIAMI – Matt Moore was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9, it was announced today by the National Football League.

 Moore threw for three touchdowns, 224 yards and recorded a career-high 147.5 quarterback rating in a 31-3 win at Kansas City. Additionally, the 147.5 rating was the third highest in team history (minimum 20 attempts). Moore’s three touchdown passes at Kansas City was the third time in his career that he has thrown for three touchdowns in a single game. The last time was on December 27, 2009 at New York Giants. It was the first time that a Dolphins passer threw for three touchdowns in a single game since Chad Pennington threw three touchdowns on December 21, 2008 at Kansas City.

 Moore directed Miami’s to 31 points, the most they have scored this season. The previous high this season was 24 points in the season opener vs. New England (9/12). The 31 points were the most for Miami since they scored 33 at Oakland on November 28, 2010.

 Moore last won NFL honors as a rookie in 2007 when he was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for December after completing 49 of 79 passes (62.0 percent) for 564 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions to generate an 86.1 quarterback rating.

 The last Miami Dolphins player to win Offensive Player of the Week was Ricky Williams who took home honors for his performance Week 11 at Carolina on November 19, 2009. The last time a Dolphins quarterback won the award was Chad Pennington in Week 8 vs. Buffalo on October 26, 2008.

DOLPHINS SIGN WILL YEATMAN   

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins have claimed tight end Will Yeatman off waivers and released defensive lineman Frank Kearse, it was announced today.   

The 6-5, 268 pound Yeatman originally signed with the New England Patriots on July 27, 2011 as an undrafted free agent. He was released by New England at the end of the preseason on September 3, 2011. Yeatman was a two-sport standout at Notre Dame (2006-08) and Maryland (2009-10) in football and lacrosse. He played in all 11 games for Maryland as a senior in 2010, starting three times and finishing the season with 13 receptions for 134 yards and one touchdown. Born April 10, 1988 in Naples, Italy, Yeatman attended Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, CA where he was a four-time letter winner in lacrosse and a three-time letter winner in football.

DOLPHINS FORM PRACTICE SQUAD 

            MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today signed the following players to the practice squad, the team announced:  defensive back  Vincent Agnew, tight end Brett Brackett, guard Garrett Chisolm, quarterback Pat Devlin, running back Nic Grigsby, tackle D.J. Jones and wide receiver Julius Pruitt. All seven were with the Dolphins in training camp this year before being waived on Saturday

SWIMSUIT FASHION SHOW

At LIV Fontainebleau Miami Beach
Benefiting the Miami Dolphins Foundation

MIAMI, FL – On Wednesday, August 24, 2011, the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders will unveil the 2012 Swimsuit Calendar at their annual swimwear fashion show, being held at LIV, inside the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, the evening’s events will begin at 8:45 p.m.  The event will feature the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders in a high-energy swimwear fashion show. 

The fashion show will showcase swimsuit designs by Aguaclara and Realtree Swim USA and styled by cheerleader directors Emily Newton Snow and Dorie Grogan.  The 2012 calendar cover will be revealed to the public for the first time prior to the start of the fashion show at 8:45 p.m.
