2nd Annual Miss Overtown
USA and Teen Miss Overtown USA Pageant to be held March 24, 2012 at
Booker T. Washington Senior High School
Miami, FL March 22, 2012 –
Young women from Overtown will once again have the opportunity to
compete for the title of Miss USA by participating in the 2nd
Annual Miss Overtown USA and Teen Miss Overtown USA pageant, brought
to the community by the Overtown Rhythm and Arts Festival, the Miami
Dade Public School Systerm, the City of Miami Office of Commissioner
Spence- Jones and the Community Redevelopment Agency of Miami
On Saturday, March 24th pageant contestants will
compete to win a college scholarship, a modeling portfolio from
professional photographer Vince Bennett, an evening gown from
Regalia, a gift certificate from La Casa Hermosa and
many other prizes.
NBC-6 reporters Nathalie Pozo and Justin Finch will host the event,
which will include Miami-Dade School Board Member Dr. Dorothy
Bendross-Mindingall, Thema Campbell , Executive Director of Girl
Power, and Angel Meyer, Ms. Plus Miami Dade County, dance instructor
Talia Rickards and Jeffrey Lubin, president of Lubin Inc. as judges.
Miss Overtown USA and Teen Miss Overtown USA are the
preliminary pageants to Miss USA and a part of the Overtown
Rhythm & Arts Festival, which aims to celebrate the rich history
of one of Miami’s earliest settlements, Overtown. The winners of the
Miss Overtown USA and Teen Miss Overtown USA pageants
will have the opportunity to commemorate the festival on
Saturday, June 23, 2012.

between 9th and 11th Streets in the Historic
Overtown District, this one-day annual Festival comes alive on June
23, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with local food, art, music
